PITTSBURGH -- Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty was released from Allegheny General Hospital on Tuesday, one day after he was knocked unconscious after a collision with center fielder Peter Bourjos during a 3-0 win over the Pirates.
Piscotty, who received a facial contusion, likely will be unavailable to play for some time. Scans of Piscotty's neck, face and head taken on Monday evening revealed no fractures.
Piscotty was carted off the field during a 16-minute delay that left the Cardinals fearful of serious injury to their rookie outfielder. The collision occurred when Piscotty and Bourjos converged on Josh Harrison's fly ball to left-center.
