CHICAGO • The Cardinals wanted Dan Johnson to arrive and immediately add something to the offense more than another bat from the left side.
Two RBIs would just about do it.
In his first two at-bats with the Cardinals, Johnson drove in two runs and helped the Cardinals construct a 4-2 lead through four innings Wednesday night at Wrigley Field. Johnson is two-for-two with two RBI single in his first two at-bats, and the bottom of the Cardinals order reached base safely in seven of their first eight plate appearances.
All eight came against a pitcher they didn't expect to see.
