JUPITER, Fla. -- Yairo Munoz's sensational spring has earned him a place on the Cardinals' Opening Day roster.
Manager Mike Matheny informed the 23-year-old on Friday that he won the club's final bench spot over Harrison Bader and Luke Voit, who were optioned to Triple-A Memphis along with right-hander Josh Lucas.
Acquired in the offseason trade that sent Stephen Piscotty to the A's, Munoz has hit .375/.423/.625 over 48 at-bats this spring while playing five positions. The Cardinals believe he could play all nine positions if necessary.
