SAN FRANCISCO • One of them expected to be coming off the bench. The other expected to be in Cleveland these days.
Two Cardinals thrust into larger roles with the team because of injuries elsewhere on the roster have helped extend the team's lead in the rubber game of a three-day visit to San Francisco. First, Brandon Moss clubbed a solo home run to center field in the fourth inning. Then, two innings later, Mark Reynolds met the first pitch he saw with a swing that put the ball in the left-center seats.
The two homers, coupled with early shows of force, have the Cardinals leading the Giants, 6-2, through 5 1/2 innings at AT&T Park on Pixar Day.
