Moss homer gives Cardinals early lead

The longest homer by a lefty at Busch Stadium III now belongs to Brandon Moss.

Moss, who is playing left and batting third today, sent his seventh homer of the season off the face of Busch Stadium's second deck and gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead over the Phillies in the first inning of Thursday afternoon's series finale.

The 462-foot shot, which came on a 2-1 fastball from Phillies starter Jerad Eickoff, would have done more damage (to the scoreboard, not the Mercy Hospital sign the ball knocked) had a 1-6-3 double play not cleared the bases before he came to bat.
