KANSAS CITY • Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, robbed of a hit by slick-fielding Kansas City shortstop Alcides Escobar in the second inning, rectified that matter in the fourth inning of a scoreless game Tuesday night.
Molina ripped a Jason Vargas fastball, measured at 83 mph, over the left-center-field wall for the first run of the game. Molina’s homer, which measured 416 feet, was his 13th of the season and his fourth hit in 10 at-bats against the lefthander.
WACHA, VARGAS MATCH ZEROES
Michael Wacha throwing hard, as in 97 mph, and Kansas City’s Jason Vargas, throwing many changeups and an 85 mph fastball, provided an interesting contrast in the early innings of Tuesday night’s game.
