With two words on his social media outlet of choice, Yadier Molina confirmed what newcomer Nolan Arenado openly had lobbied for a week ago and the team had privately expected.
“I’m back!”
Molina and the Cardinals finalized a one-year contract that brings the Gold Glove-winning catcher back to the only plate he’s called home for an 18th season. Molina and the Cardinals confirmed the deal Monday night on social media, though a formal announcement is expected Tuesday. The agreement is worth $9 million and does not include an option, two sources confirmed.
During a frenetic week that included re-signing Adam Wainwright and trading for Arenado, the Cardinals also made progress on an agreement with Molina.
