Molina, O'Neill homers help Cards overcome errors to win

Their defense, much improved lately, committed two outfield errors in the same inning, abetting three San Francisco runs in the seventh against Adam Wainwright, who deserved a better fate. And first baseman Matt Carpenter erred twice on the same play in the 10th, fumbling a potential double-play ball and, after recovering the carom off his glove, unwisely trying to shovel a throw to first, with the ball getting away.

After errors by Marcell Ozuna and Harrison Bader contributed to a 4-2 Giants lead in the seventh, Molina cracked his 19th homer of the season, following a walk to Jedd Gyorko, to tie the game at 4-4 in the Cardinals’ seventh.
