While he squeezed and rolled a doughy black stress ball about the size of a plum in his injured left hand, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina explained Sunday his focus for the week.
He spoke of it as one might a wish.
“I’m trying to get healthy and trying to contribute however I can,” he said.
Molina’s uncertain health took an optimistic turn Monday, according the Cardinals, after he met with a hand specialist in St. Louis. There is a still a torn ligament in Molina’s left thumb, the team said, but the healing has progressed to a point that the catcher has been cleared to attempt baseball activities.
