Molina deflects credit for Cards' success on mound

LOS ANGELES • The Cardinals’ staff earned run average was 2.62 entering Friday night’s game with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This easily led the major leagues and bordered on 1968 stuff when the height of the mound was 15 inches and the Cardinals’ ERA for the year was 2.49.

And this, for the most part, was achieved without staff ace Adam Wainwright and, to a degree, late-inning reliever Jordan Walden.

“It’s a good feeling that they’re doing good,” said catcher Yadier Molina. “We have to keep the same concentration that we have so far and try to finish it off good, too.
