JUPITER, Fla. — With more than an hour to go before a deadline of their invention – and also their extension – Major League Baseball’s owners presented what they described to the union as their best final offer to allow for an on time start to the 2022 season.
A league spokesman advertised the arrival of the offer and the union acknowledged receiving it with about 80 minutes to go before the 4 p.m. St. Louis time deadline the owners had set for an agreement.
That it would be the final offer exchanged for the day was about all the sides agreed on.
