Tyler Lyons pitched nine innings and fanned 12 batters Thursday night in his start for Class AAA Memphis.
It was the first complete game thrown by a Memphis pitcher this season, and the 12 strikeouts were a career high for Lyons. Although he gave up two earned runs including a third-inning home run, he tossed 110 pitches and did not walk anyone.
Thursday marked Lyons’ first start with Memphis since being recalled by St. Louis in early May. Previously, the lefty made three starts for St. Louis, where he accumulated a 5.54 ERA.
