Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 265 pounds, Luken Baker is bigger than every linebacker on TCU’s football team. While he was with the Horned Frogs, though, Baker played on the baseball field, not the gridiron, and the Cardinals drafted him 75th overall in this year’s draft.
“My first impression was, ‘Maybe he was playing the wrong sport,’ that he might have been a better football player,” said Chris Swauger, Baker’s manager at Class A Peoria.
“We were happy to have him because he would put a thundering presence in our lineup.”
Baker earned an $800,000 bonus for signing with the Cardinals, and he is the only member of the team’s 2018 draft class playing in Class A.
