The great writers I am privileged to call colleagues here at VEB have written about plenty of free agents this offseason. There is J.D. Martinez to fill a spot in the outfield. There is Alex Cobb, who could jump right into the rotation. There is even a case to be made for Jarrod Dyson, who might not fill a “big bat” role, but would be a welcome addition to the team.
Those are, of course, on top of the possible trade targets: Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, Marcus Stroman, and Christian Yelich.
