PHILADELPHIA • By taking the brunt of the collision with his shoulder, first baseman Jose Martinez may have dodged damaging his wrist. Now he waits to see how the shoulder recovers.
In the seventh inning of Wednesday’s loss to the Phillies, Matt Carpenter’s throw from third base brought Martinez up the first-base line and into the path of runner Nick Williams.
