Half an inning after the Blue Jays went ahead 4-2, the Cardinals came right back.
First baseman Jose Martinez, who came into the game in the top of the seventh in a double switch, launched his first career MLB home run into the right field bullpen.
The two run shot tied Tuesday's contest at 4-4, and Martinez received a curtain call from the St. Louis fans.
Reliever Kevin Siegrist then came on for Matt Bowman in the top of eighth after the Cardinals were retired.
Bowman's scoreless streak ends on acrobatic dive
Matt Bowman entered Tuesday's game with a 20 inning scoreless streak, but that came to end in an unexpected fashion in the seventh inning.
