Martinez holds Braves to two, knocks in two

ATLANTA • Carlos Martinez, who didn’t have a run batted in last season for the Cardinals, knocked in his second of the night in the fifth inning Saturday as the Cardinals scored two more runs to hike their lead over the bumbling Atlanta Braves.

With runners at first and second after the Braves had messed up an easy double play, Martinez, in a bunt situation, pulled the bat back and lined a single to right, scoring Kolten Wong.

Rookie Jeremy Hazelbaker, who displayed his versatility all night, knocked in the other run with a sacrifice fly.
