Martinez gives up solo shot to Duvall as Reds take early lead

The Reds and Cardinals got off to a scoreless start, with both starters Carlos Martinez and Scott Feldman trading 1-2-3 innings. But Cincinnati got on the board first thanks to a leadoff solo home run from outfielder Adam Duvall in the top of the second.

Duvall's homer was his second of the year, and it was the first home run given up by any St. Louis starting pitcher so far this season. That's in stark contrast to the Cardinals bullpen, which has given up five home runs in five games.

Martinez gave up a line drive single to right field to the next batter, but worked his way out of the inning by inducing a double play off the bat of outfielder Scott Schebler and another groundout from shortstop Zack Cozart.
