Carlos Martinez faltered and could not complete the sixth inning, letting Cincinnati take a big advantage in the frame.
The inning began somewhat harmlessly -- Martinez hit second baseman Jose Peraza leading off. But a walk to Joey Votto followed by an RBI single from Adam Duvall increased the Reds' lead to 3-0. Duvall is 3-for-3 so far with two RBIs.
Then, things began to unravel. Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez grounded the ball to Cardinals third baseman Jhonny Peralta, who bobbled the ball, allowing Suarez to reach base.
However, Peralta then attempted to throw out Duvall at second, but instead tossed it into the outfield, allowing another run to score.
