LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. • Cardinals reliever Tyler Lyons is scheduled to make his first appearance of the spring late in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Atlanta Braves.
Lyons, who saw his 2016 season cut short due to a right knee injury that eventually required surgery, has been on pace with his projected recovery. He felt good following his third live bullpen earlier this week, the final check point before today. The lefty had 3.38 ERA in 30 appearances (48 innings) last season.
Lyons' appearance is somewhat significant because his appearance in a game that includes paid spectators means this would be the earliest date the Cardinals could list him if he needs to start the season on the disabled list.
