Tyler Lyons, just 11 days removed from the disabled list, said he felt something in his back on the fourth or fifth throw he made in the bullpen Monday night, preparatory to his entering the game in the seventh inning.
“I just felt a little tug on the back right side of my back,” said the lefthander, who continued on to pitch one scoreless inning before saying something about it.
“It never got worse,” said Lyons. “It just really didn’t get any better. I was hoping it would loosen up.”
Manager Mike Matheny said Tuesday he wished Lyons had said something to him about it before his appearance instead of after it.
