Mike Leake spent a good portion of the offseason hoping he would pitch for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
On Saturday he beat them.
The Cardinals starter, with the help of home runs by Jedd Gyorko, Matt Adams and Yadier Molina, claimed a 6-2 win in front of a sellout Busch Stadium crowd of 45,117. Leake (3-3) has now won three straight.
Leake surrendered four hits through seven scoreless innings. He struck out three, walked none and totaled 14 groundouts on 91 pitches. Diamondbacks starter Robbie Ray (2-3) took the loss.
Gyroko's fifth homer of the season gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the second.
