June 29 minor league report: Weaver shows back is healthy with strong start

After leaving his start on June 11 after two and one third innings due to back spasms, Class AAA starting pitcher Luke Weaver has assuaged any concern about his back interfering with his performance on the mound.

Weaver pitched six scoreless innings in Memphis's 7-2 win over Oklahoma City Wednesday. He allowed three hits while striking out six batters and walking two.

While his pitch count has been limited in his last two starts as a result of the back injury, Weaver has now pitched nine and two thirds scoreless innings in the two outings combined. His ERA for the season is 1.
