In the first game of the season for the Cardinals' rookie ball affiliate, the Gulf Coast Cardinals, right fielder Sanel Rosendo started his year off with a bang.
Actually, two bangs.
The Cardinals lost their opener, but Rosendo went two-for-four with two home runs and three RBIs. Rosendo, whom the team signed as an international free agent in February, 2015, is playing in the Gulf Coast League for the third straight season. His two home runs Monday already surpassed his season total from last year. In 24 games, he hit just one home run.
Other notable performances:
- Pitcher Zac Gallen, who started the year in High-A Palm Beach, was promoted to Class AA Springfield on June 3.
