Jose Martinez, who knocked in four runs in a doubleheader on Tuesday, drove in two more with a second-inning triple Wednesday night at Busch Stadium as the Cardinals ate into an early six-run Milwaukee lead and exited the inning trailing only 6-4.
With one out, Brewers starter Matt Garza, just off the disabled list, gave up singles to Yadier Molina and Aledmys Diaz. Martinez sent a shot to the left of young center fielder Keon Broxton, who unwisely tried to dive for the ball, which went all the way as two runs scored and Martinez made third.
Kolten Wong then extended his hitting streak to six games (nine for 19) with a run-scoring double to right center.
