Cardinals pinch hitter Jose Martinez flared a single to right field with two out in the sixth inning to break up the perfect game being spun by Milwaukee Brewers righthander Aaron Wilkerson. Martinez extended his on-base streak to 27 consecutive games with his hit.

Jack Flaherty, who started for the Cardinals, didn’t allow a run over his last four innings after surrendering four in the first and the Brewers maintained that 4-0 lead into the seventh in a game being played at a breakneck pace. The first six innings lasted 1 hour 25 minutes.
