Is Cards' good-hands outfield the best baseball?

NEW YORK • In the eighth inning of Wednesday’s 9-0 victory against the New York Mets, the best outfield the Cardinals can play showed why.

Curtis Granderson looped a pitch to shallow left field that Randal Grichuk, having relocated from center, raced in and caught while sliding to his knees and plucking the ball just before it hit the grass. Two batters later, Lucas Duda drove a ball down the right field, slicing away from the fielders but destined to hug fair territory for a double. Jason Heyward caught the ball in stride for the final out of the inning.
