'I could have scored easily,' says Cardinals rookie Adolis Garcia

CHICAGO • In a career spent speeding around the bases, from growing up in Cuba to rising up in the Cardinals' organization, rookie Adolis Garcia has made that left turn toward home enough to know how many times he scores "easily" in certain situations.

In the eighth inning of the Cardinals' loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday, Garcia entered the game as a pinch-runner at first base for Matt Carpenter. The Cardinals trailed by a run and he was the most important runner in their universe. The next batter, Jose Martinez, chopped a grounder that inched up the third-base line.
