Hummel: Cubs, White Sox are strange bedfellows

With Chicago certainly a Second City, or Third, or Last when it comes to baseball success, much has been made of the Cubs never having appeared in a World Series since 1945 or winning one since 1908. But the South Side White Sox, who have almost as big a lead in the American League Central Division as do the Cubs in the National League Central, aren’t exactly regular postseason guests themselves.

The White Sox have been to precisely two World Series in the last 97 years, one of which they won over Houston in 2005 and the other they lost in 1959 to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
