As stated by a still-agitated Matt Carpenter, an hour or so after being ejected from Tuesday’s 12-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cardinals have “backed ourselves into a corner.”
Carpenter went on to say, “I’ve got full confidence (in) this group. We’ve fought way too hard, way too long. We move on and we find a way to come out here tomorrow and win the game.”
The Cardinals dropped out of the lead for the second wild-card spot, falling a half game behind the Colorado Rockies, who have feasted on the Philadelphia Phillies for the past two days and have two more courses remaining on Wednesday and Thursday.
