WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The ripple effects of this past weekend’s roster decisions reached the outfield Sunday and began to reveal how a handful of Cardinals outfielders will get at-bats.
Two rookie outfielders, Jordan Walker and Alec Burleson, earned spots on the opening-day roster, and the club’s selection of Walker suggests the top prospect will be in the lineup, and a lot. Manager Oliver Marmol said he met with center fielder Dylan Carlson to discuss how his position could change from day to day and, as a switch-hitter, being a counterpunch off the bench so the Cardinals can answer the handedness of any opposing reliever.
