Injured, discouraged and frustrated yet again by a right quadriceps tear, Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday said Friday he suspected he would be playing “soon.” But that is all relative to how quickly Holliday, sidelined after an unfortunate voyage to first base Wednesday, can heal.
“I have no time frame,” said Holliday. “You know when you know. I want to play as soon as I can play. My leg will dictate when that is. Whenever I’m able to run at a decent clip and play, I’ll play.”
The treatment process has changed a bit this time. On Thursday, Holliday received a platelet-rich plasma injection that could speed the process of healing.
