The St. Louis Rams no longer exist, David Bowie is dead, and Mizzou basketball inexplicably found a way to get worse. It was the worst week of the year, and will surely hold that title for the next 50 weeks, if not 50 years for the grittiest of gridiron fanatics.
Perhaps the most-poignant image this week was that of the Rams’ Super Bowl championship banner, dropped from the rafters at the Edward Jones Dome, inevitably to be sent out West to those who won’t even appreciate the banner and what it represents.
And so, St. Louisans surely will appreciate, more than ever before, the pitchers-and-catchers of pitchers-and-catchers: The arrival of the Winter Warm-Up, considered the “start” of each new season.
