Paul Goldschmidt is the best offensive player on the Cardinals.
And that’s the last we’ll talk about his offense in this column.
This is an appreciation for his defense, which doesn’t get overlooked, per se, but shall we say is “underlooked” because he’s just so good at, you know, the other thing we said we wouldn’t talk about.
Goldschmidt has been a Gold Glove finalist in both of his seasons with St. Louis. He won three on the diamond, back with the Diamondbacks. He’ll make the occasional diving catch that looks like, depending on your age, something from Albert Pujols or Keith Hernandez or Bill White.
