GLENDALE, Ariz. • Here, 127 pitchers have pitched. Thirty-five of them have started at least one game in the Arizona Fall League. And Cardinals prospect Austin Gomber has had the best fall of any of them.
Does that make Gomber the best pitcher here? No. It's a small sample size of starts (five for him). But he's arguably having the best fall, and it's encouraging that the lefty is rising up (while his pitches aren't).
“Gomby has been phenomenal — he has been as consistent as consistent can be,” said Aaron Rowand, the former MLB All-Star who is managing Gomber's team, the Glendale Desert Dogs.
