So during Saturday’s fifth inning, Trenton Zarechi walked to the top of the left-field bleachers. He planned to scurry down to the Rockies’ bullpen and ask a big leaguer to throw him a ball.
But then, a big leaguer hit him a ball.
Paul Goldschmidt NASA’d a baseball to space, and when it returned to this planet, it landed in the kid’s glove.
“I knew it was going to be deep, but I didn’t know if it would be right to me,” said Trenton, a 16-year-old from Springfield, Missouri. “That ball was HIT.”
It flew 430 feet for the Cardinals’ 43rd team homer this year.
