Hochman: Friendly competition for Moss, Gyorko

Just some good ol’ boys.

Straightenin’ the curves.

The Cardinals’ top two sluggers are country strong, a couple of Waylon Jennings wailin’ hunting buddies who are two black-eyed peas in a pod.

Brandon Moss and Jedd Gyorko entered Wednesday with a combined 49 home runs in 624 at-bats. And with apologies to the relief pitcher Zach, these are the Cardinals’ Dukes, though their unabashed silliness might make them the “Kooks of Hazzard.”

How did Moss and Gyorko become the home run leaders of baseball’s mashiest team? And how did they become the unofficial jesters of the clubhouse?
