PITTSBURGH • As I ingested this hot dog coated with macaroni and cheese and Cracker Jack scattered atop, I thought to myself – now this is what America tastes like.
And after a brief encounter with a defibrillator, I'm now able to write about this glorious PNC Park hot dog and confectionery concoction, this gastronomic, gas-inducing, Gastric-bypass-surgery-inspiring triumph of a lunch.
They call it the Cracker Jack & Mac Dog, sold only here at the Pirates' ballpark. It goes for $11, with a calorie count approximately the same as the population of Festus.
On Sunday, during the Cardinals' opener here, I devoured this foot-long all-beef hot dog, which in addition to the mac and cheese and the Cracker Jack, featured a gooey salted caramel sauce and -- why not?
