The Cardinals already had a strong rotation, a stout bullpen and a stellar defense.
But now, as explained Tuesday by Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr., it’s like a “perfect storm,” or its technical meteorological term, an arenado.
“I think we've got a good club,” said DeWitt Jr., “one that could contend with anybody.”
Suddenly, it doesn’t sound like such a stretch to say the Cards could make the 2021 World Series.
Nolan Arenado is just one man. Eight other guys have to bat, also. And even with pitchers proficient in inducing grounders, not every ball will be hit to third.
