Jeremy Hazelbaker continued his string of strong first impressions Monday. The Cardinals rookie outfielder, making his first opening day start today in left field, smashed a one-out triple to left field during his first at-bat at Busch Stadium.
And the Cardinals' big inning was on.
A Matt Holliday double to center followed and made Hazelbaker's hit more than a milestone.
Following a Stephen Piscotty strikeout, Randal Grichuk scored Holliday with a double to left.
Then Yadier Molina singled to right to score Grichuk.
The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead over the Brewers into the second inning.
