On July 4, 1963, José Oquendo took his first breath on this earth. At the age of nineteen he made his MLB debut with the New York Mets. Thirteen years later, as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, he played in his final baseball game. Now at fifty-five years old, the Secret Weapon has still got it, in the midst of his seventeenth season as a Cardinals coach.
Today is the day after José Oquendo’s birthday. Let’s celebrate with some Oquendo highlights!
