KANSAS CITY • Cheslor Cuthbert’s bases-loaded double provided three runs for the Kansas City Royals in the fourth inning Tuesday night. But the Cardinals rallied for six of their own in the fifth, featuring a three-run homer by Jedd Gyorko, to take back the lead at 7-3.
It was the third time in three games the Cardinals had scored at least six runs in an inning.
Yadier Molina, who had homered in the fourth for the first run off Jason Vargas, singled off the third-base bag for two more runs in the fifth.
Randal Grichuk’s 14th homer led off the inning and brought the Cardinals closer at 3-2.
