Gyorko's 25th runs Cards' HR streak to 22

CINCINNATI • The Cardinals wasted previous little time extending their club record of consecutive games in which they had homered to 22 on Saturday when Jedd Gyorko poled his 25th of the season on the first pitch he saw from Cincinnati’s Dan Straily in the first inning.

Gyorko homered to left just after Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton had run down Matt Carpenter’s long drive to right center before Hamilton bumped into the wall.

MOLINA GETS A DAY OFF

Alberto Rosario, who handled Jaime Garcia the last time Yadier Molina had a day off, will do again Saturday as Garcia tries for his 11th win and Rosario tries to throw out Cincinnati speedster Billy Hamilton, who has 14 steals against the Cardinals this season, including three on Friday.
