The Cardinals' recent power surge continued Sunday as second baseman Jedd Gyorko erased the Reds' early lead with a solo homer to center field in the second inning.
An unlikely candidate then turned a tie game into a 2-1 Cardinals' advantage.
Catcher Eric Fryer, starting for the first time this season, improved to four-for-for at the plate in 2016 when he scored Greg Garcia on a double to right field. Garcia singled after Gyorko's shot.
Gyorko's second homer of the season came on a first-pitch, 93 mph fastball from Red starter Jon Moscot. It traveled 410 feet.
