Outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. rose out of an era that has confounded Hall of Fame voters to receive the highest percentage of votes ever, surpassing the support that Babe Ruth, Bob Gibson, Cal Ripken Jr., or even Tom Seaver received.
Griffey and Mike Piazza will be a class of two inducted this July to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Hall announced Wednesday. Each of the two players received a vote on at least 75 percent of the ballots submitted by eligible members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. A total of 440 ballots were submitted.
