PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. • Randal Grichuk homered off Mets closer Jeurys Familia in the ninth to spark a three-run rally as the Cardinals, who had won just one exhibition game in two weeks, rallied to beat the New York Mets 5-4 on Friday.
After Grichuk had powered his second spring home run to make it 4-3, Matt Adams and pinch hitter Brandon Moss both singled. Jedd Gyorko, who had sent a ball to the warning track in his previous at-bat, doubled to left, scoring Adams.
With runners at second and third, Carlos Peguero, the third pinch hitter of the inning as manager Mike Matheny pullled out the stops, was walked intentionally.
