Grichuk clears bases with 3-run double as Cards take early lead

After going quietly in the first inning, the Cardinals busted the game open in the second.

The Cardinals loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the second inning, thanks to singles from Jhonny Peralta and Tommy Pham, and a walk by Aledmys Diaz. Right fielder Randal Grichuk then laced a double into the left field corner, chasing all three runners home.

Adam Wainwright sacrifice bunted Grichuk over to third, and Dexter Fowler drove him home with a sacrifice fly to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead when all was said and done.

Second baseman Greg Garcia grounded out to end the inning, but the damage had been done to Matt Cain, who has not won a game at Busch Stadium in his career.
