Cardinals third baseman Greg Garcia, in the starting lineup for the third straight day, laced an RBI double in the fifth inning to right field to add to the Cardinals lead.
Garcia's double was his first extra-base hit of the season. However, he was thrown out at third base trying to leg it into a triple.
Jose Martinez led off the inning with a line drive single to center field, extending his hitting streak to six games. Martinez then scored from first on Garcia's double making the score 2-0.
St. Louis had a chance to break open the game as well.
