The Cardinals could win the arms race this season by deploying a huge and fluid pitching staff.
Rather than wait until the September roster expansion to exploit their organizational depth, they have been finding strength in numbers since Week 1.
They used 19 hurlers in their first 33 games. A 20th pitcher, Austin Gomber, has warmed up during a game without getting in. A 21st, powerful Alex Reyes, will bolster the Cardinals this summer after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
These are established big leaguers or legitimate prospects. They rotate in and out from the disabled list or the Triple-A team in Memphis.
