Gonzales walks into trouble, Grichuk impressing

JUPITER, Fla. • Cardinals starter Marco Gonzales cruised through a 1-2-3 first inning against the Red Sox, then found himself with the bases loaded and one out in the second.

The lefty, after a quick mound visit by catcher Yadier Molina, couldn't escape unscathed. Jackie Bradley Jr. turned a fastball into a two-run double before Randal Grichuk's diving catch on a Brock Holt line drive saved more damage and ended the inning.

The Cardinals trailed the Red Sox 2-0 headed into the third inning of Monday's Grapefruit League exhibition game at Roger Dean Stadium.

Miguel Socolovich replaced Gonzales to start the third.
